As a face painter, Wendee Goles of Villa Park transforms faces into beautiful butterflies or scary monsters with a stroke of her paintbrush. Appropriately nicknamed Wendee “The Wizard,” Goles puts her artistry on faces around the suburbs, painting designs to the hearts of her young audience’s content. An artist by nature, Goles can be found dabbling in face painting at the Elmhurst Public Library’s Summer Reading Kickoff on Saturday, June 4, as well as at Villa Park Summerfest on Saturday, June 18. Goles has a 9-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son who adores mommy’s creations. In fact, Wendee “The Wizard” has an apprentice. She’s currently teaching one of her children the artistry of face painting. I took my kids to a children’s museum, and they had a station set up where they could dip crayons into a wet sponge and draw on their faces, like face paint. We (took a vacation) to a beach, and I decided to use this same trick on my children, and suddenly there was a line of children waiting to get their faces painted and their parents were throwing money at me, and that’s how I got started. Actually, I’ve painted their faces so many times that they don’t care for doing it like they used to. But they do love to brag about me to their friends. Sometimes they’ll bring their friends over to the house and ask me to paint their (friends’) faces. … My daughter has been wanting to help out and she does. She’ll paint cheek art, and she’s a great artist. I’ll go through quite a bit of paint. The last time I painted faces at Summerfest, which was two years ago, I had so many people in line, it was hard for me to take a break. I kept getting a lot of repeaters in line who kept coming back four to five times wanting me to paint their face, hand, arm, leg. I work by myself, so this year I’m going to minimize my hours and make sure to set up a break time for myself.

i have an up coming event with children alot younger than i am used to (p1 – 3, the eldest is probaly about 8 youngest 4 ) i was looking for some cute designs as the ones i usually do i decided would be a bit old for these kids and the dolphins and lady bugs are perfect!!!! i have always struggled with painting dolphins and this is a much easier way thank you soooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all the ideas on this site are GREAT!
