Mukilteo gears up for second car show

The Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce and Historic Flight Foundation are gearing up for the second Mukilteo Car Show, to be held this year at the Historic Flight Foundation tarmac on Sunday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  

Every kind of car – including restored classics to the most modern rides will be on display at the show at 10719 Bernie Webber Dr., right along the Mukilteo Speedway.

The day will be filled with music, contests, trophies, raffle prizes, food and of course, CARS! This year the car show has the good fortune to be on display at the Historic Flight Foundation – not only will great cars be available for viewing, but the fantastic collection of aircraft from 1927-1957 will be open to the public, too!

Local sponsors of the show are Dwayne Lanes, Les Schwab, Karmichael Auto Salon, Discount Tire, Kompact Kar Korner and Harbour Pointe Havoline Xpress Lube.

One car owner already registered for this year’s car show is John McLeod, who will be showing his 1929 Ford Roadster. McLeod is proud of “Tweetie,” which he has owned for just over a year.

McLeod enjoys working on her and the craftsmanship of the Henry Ford complete steel body, Ford Thunderbird engine and 1932 Ford grill – a beautiful, bright car to watch for on those sunny days in Mukilteo. Be sure to check this one out at the car show!

If you would like to show your car, entrants can register for $20 at www.mukilteo.org. Proceeds will support the Mukilteo Food Bank, and the first 100 cars will receive a dash plaque.  

Come out and vote for your favorite car – Trophies for Best of Show, People’s Choice and Mayor’s Choice will be awarded at 2:30 p.m. Prizes for fun categories will be awarded throughout the day.

Bring the family and spend the day – there will be live music from the Stephan Grace Band and great food from Garlic Jim’s Pizza, pulled-pork sandwiches from Stray Dogs Catering, coffee and goodies from Celtic Coffee & Deli, grilled hot dogs from the Mukilteo Kiwanis, kettle corn from Sturgis Sweets and shave ice from Kona Ice.

“We had over 300 visitors vote for ‘the People’s Choice Award’ last year and we hope to have everyone and more out again this year!” said Matt Martin, president of the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce. “Everyone loves to get involved, and it’s a great way to spend the day in our community.
