Bible schools ready to launch

Baptist

* Anastasia Baptist Church, A1A South, presents "The Big Apple" from 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday through June 24. Sessions are for ages pre-kindergarten 4 through 5th grade. Space is limited.

* Crescent Beach Baptist Church, 885 State Road 206 East, is also planning a "Big Apple Adventure" Monday through June 24. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon each day for children ages 3 through 6th grade. For additional information call 794-7777.

* First Baptist Church, 109 N. Main St., Hastings, presents the Bible in Motion from 6 to 8:30 .m. Sunday through Thursday. The youngsters will visit with Mary, Jesus' mom, and hear about Jesus' childhood adventures. For further information, call 692-1563 or go to www.firstbaptisthastings.org .

* Greater St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church presents "Islands Odyssey: to the Ends of Earth with Jesus Christ." Sessions are planned from 8:30 a.m. to noon July 11 through 15.

The celebration and awards program for participants and parents, family and friends begins at 6 p.m. July 16. Refreshments will be served.

Sessions are for ages 5 to 18. July 14 and 15 adults are invited from 6 to 8 p.m.

* Heritage Baptist Church, 1480 Wildwood Drive, will speed into the world of car racing with vacation Bible school Aug. 1 through 5 titled "Rev It Up! Full Throttle for God."

Each night K-5 through 12th grade students will learn about the life of Jesus and how to be a strong Christian through the eyes of Jesus' disciples, Peter and John. VBS sessions are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each day. Student race pit crew training will include Bible lessons, Scripture memory, games, snacks, music, nightly points competition, and daily prize drawings. There will be a nightly freewill coin offering to benefit Wesley Lane, missionary to Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

July 31 from noon to 2 p.m. a pre-registration cook-out is planned at the church for all those interested in attending VBS. This cook-out is free for all students and their families and will include a bouncey house and other children games. ZZ Top is an American rock trio, formed in late 1969 in Houston, Texas, by Billy Gibbons (lead vocals and lead guitar), Dusty Hill (vocals, bass, and keyboards), and Frank Beard (drums).
