Never before have I put a game in my console with as much excitement and trepidation as Duke Nukem Forever. After an eternity in development hell, the sequel is actually here, and the good news is, there's a lot to like.
BINDI
Aliens have arrived on earth once again, to cause mischief and steal chicks for impregnation. It's such a classic tale Bajo... The President tries to calm the situation, but Duke knows these foes too well. And when his own chicks 'the holesome twins' are captured, he's forced to take matters into his own hands, and kill everything.
BAJO
After you've pushed X on a million things, you'll make your way out of the Duke Cave, and move through a good variety of locals. There's the duke casino, a wild west zone which has some Ok driving bits to it, alien hives and our personal favourite, the kitchen. I quite liked the shrinking levels Bindi. Especially dukes first reaction to it
BINDI
Yes, you don't often get shrunk down in games and it's a nice twist on things. I enjoyed fighting the rats, and on occasion when you're small, a normal enemy will become a giant boss which is pretty thrilling. I did find it hard to see where to go sometimes though. levels are all very 'old school 3d realms' which means besides the odd subtle arrow and glowing objective, you will spend much of your time looking around, trying to work things out. When you go off track, you do stumble into some fun little fan service references though

Yeah the levels are a mixed bag aren't they, I got lost too. But, even though the lack of direction bugged me at times, I actually started to find it a bit refreshing that the game wasn't funnelling so rigidly.. and that I had a bit of room to explore. it helped the pace of the game too. All the classic Duke Nukem weapons are here
and they all feel right. The combat on the whole just has that pitch-perfect feel, dodging slow missiles and aiming for that perfect pipe bomb placement
every game needs pipe bombs! They're so rewarding and I love the noise they make when you pull the tirgger!
BINDI
So many big guns with no reload time can't help but raise your own ego. Duke's health is measured in ego actually, which increases the more bosses you take down, and the more items you interact with in the world - such as throwing a Frisbee and an enemy.. or checking out lots of porn.

And the puzzles give you a break from the pig shattering. It's great to be fighting pigs again.. and I loved the way Duke jumps in mirrors! There isn't that much variety of enemies to fight though. Your standard pigs look fantastic… but the jetpack
